Dallas medical technology to help injured Ukrainian soldiers

Soldiers injured in Ukraine will get hi-tech implants to help surgeons reconstruct their faces, severely injured in combat.

DALLAS TEXAS, October 18, 2024 (NBC NEWS) —

Dallas-based MedCAD is donating advanced facial implants and surgical support to assist severely injured Ukrainian soldiers. A medical team from LEAP Global Missions, led by oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Jorge Corona, will take these implants to Ukraine, where they will be used in reconstructive surgeries for soldiers disfigured by the ongoing war with Russia. MedCAD created custom 3D-printed titanium implants, providing the technology at no cost. This initiative marks a pioneering use of their technology in a war zone, aiming to restore the soldiers’ appearance and dignity. Dr. Corona and his team are set to perform the surgeries later this month.
