Dallas surgeon helps Ukrainian soldiers injured in battle
Dr. Jorge Corona returns from Ukraine, where he used MedCAD’s custom-designed, 3D-printed facial implants to help reconstruct the faces of soldiers injured in battle.
DALLAS TEXAS, December 5th, 2024 (FOX News) —
Dr. Jorge Corona, a Dallas-based surgeon, is part of a medical mission helping Ukrainian soldiers injured in the war with Russia. Using 3D-printed surgical implants donated by MedCAD, Corona reconstructs the faces of disfigured soldiers, restoring a sense of humanity to those who have suffered devastating injuries. Sponsored by Leap Global Missions, his recent work in Kyiv included operating on a soldier who lost both eyes and collaborating with other medical professionals on cases such as a U.S. volunteer fighter nicknamed “Gandalf,” who had his jaw reconstructed with MedCAD implants. Back in Dallas, Corona toured MedCAD’s Plano facility to witness the innovative 3D printing process that enables such life-changing surgeries. Grateful to provide hope and healing, Corona views this humanitarian work as his contribution to the Ukrainian cause.
